Gentrification in Austin: Lessons Learned with Dr. Eric Tang

| Walnut Street West Free Library: 201 S. 40th St.

The Office of Immigrant Affairs, Free Library of Philadelphia, and the Asian American Studies Program of the University of Pennsylvania host a discussion on gentrification with professor and long-time activist Eric Tang.

Eric Tang is an Associate Professor in the African and African Diaspora Studies Department and director of the Center for Asian American Studies, at the University of Texas Austin. A longtime community activist, Professor Tang's latest work centers on gentrification and the depopulation of African-American and Latino neighborhooods in Austin.

Come hear about the lessons he has learned through the East Avenue Project, and consider possible directions for Philadelphia's own redevelopment.
