R Workshops

R is an open-source, object-oriented scripting language, an extremely useful tool for analyzing a large dataset. With a little bit of R coding knowledge, you can make R quickly find the answer to a simple question without having to hunt through a thousand rows of data. R with add-on packages can create excellent visualizations of, e.g., geospatial data.

Ruth Moyer, PhD candidate in Criminology and our 2019-20 Graduate Fellow, will be host to a series of R (programming language) workshops this October.

There is very limited space to join the below three (sequential) workshops. Laptops strongly recommended, wih R and RStudio installed. Okay for students who never coded before!

10/07 (5:00-6:30, Monday)
10/16 (5:00-6:30, Wednesday)
10/25 (1:30-2:00, Friday)

If you are an Urban Studies student who is interested in the topic but cannot attend the workshops, contact urbs@sas.upenn.edu and we'll share the scripts with you.
