Job Announcement: Executive Director, Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund Philadelphia

FPSF Mission Statement:

Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund works to strengthen communities and empower youth by advocating for skaters and skateboarding culture, educating youth and adults about the art of skateboarding and its benefits to neighborhoods and people, and building free, public skateparks that demonstrate innovative design, community engagement and multi-faceted use.

FPSF has contributed to the development of 8 skateparks in the area to-date, Paine’s Park, Pop’s, McCreesh, Whitehall, Grays Ferry Crescent and FDR in Philadelphia, as well as parks in Roslyn and Amber, PA.  FPSF continues to work with these sites on maintenance and programming opportunities once built.  We also have three other skatepark projects currently in development in West
Philadelphia.  Additionally, FPSF operates two youth programs with a third in development. The Gear for Groms program provides elementary and middle school aged students with opportunities to build important life skills through skateboarding instruction, and our Design Workshop program works with high school students to leverage existing and growing passions for skateboarding as a means to teach design, critical thinking, life-skills and other career-oriented skills.  Our third program currently in development, the Skate-to-Lead program, will engage students in civics, advocacy and community organizing through skateboarding.

Our Vision:

We envision Philadelphia to be a national leader for skateboarding culture, from its groundbreaking policy and economic research, to the diversity of its skateboarding community, to the quality of its skateparks and engagement with the city and its neighborhoods.
