Urban Studies mourns the loss of Jeremy Nowak

Urban Studies notes the untimely passing of Jeremy Nowak on July 28, 2018.  Jeremy, who founded the Reinvestment Fund and most recently advised cities across the country about development and revitalization, taught for Urban Studies and remained a friend over 30 years. Beginning in the mid-1980's, Jeremy developed the basic outline for and co-taught  URBS300: the Fieldwork Seminar.  Later, Jeremy originataed the course URBS452: Community Economic Development.  Even when his busy schedule prevented him from teaching, Jeremy became a generous contributor to the program through participation on panels, speaking in classes, offering the Reinvestment Fund as an internship site, and being a role model, mentor, and resource to countless students over the years.  He had an outsize presence in everything he engaged with -- brash, brilliant, brutally honest, profanely funny, and famously contrary.  See the Reinvestment Fund's tribute to Jeremy.   https://www.reinvestment.com/
