On a family trip to Manhattan when I was just a little guy, I was amazed at the 24-hour a day activity of the city and was hooked. This lead to a lifelong interest in urban design and city and regional planning.
Urban design; city and regional planning; "smart growth"/"new urbanism"; historic preservation
Beginning in 1977, I was in private practice of law (mainly real estate-related), first working for others and then, from 1992 to 2013, in my own law firm - William G. Kenney and Associates; from 2013 to 2015, I worked in the Office of the General Counsel for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance as Manager of Contractor Certification. My new job, which started April 27, 2015, is as Director of City Planning for the City of Fall River, Massachusetts, where I also supervise the Conservation Commission and Licensing Board.
It lead directly to my decision to pursue a Masters in City and Regional Planning.
