Urban Studies Senior Honors Presentations

| Location: McNeil Building Room 103 (between the elevators)

Calling all Urban Studies Majors: Our Urban Studies senior honor students have spent the spring semester refining their fall senior seminar papers. Join us as they present their work! The presentations will give you a feel for what the best senior seminar projects looked like this year, and what the authors learned in refining them.

There are 6 presentations (20 minutes each including Q & A):

~ Gabriel Alicino will talk about her research on engagement with place through urban agriculture, a case study of Bartram Farm and Community Resource Center;

~ Nabilla Ariffin will talk about the viability of economically self-sufficient urban farms in Philadelphia;

~ Addie Epstein will talk about her research on Chicago's business attraction efforts and their effectiveness;

~ Willa Granger will talk about Louis Kahn's architecture and planning as reflected in an early project of "defense" housing called Pennypack Woods;

~ Nony Onyeador will talk about her project that looks at what kinds of opportunities social media entrepreneurship provide African-American businesses;

~ Meg Zager will talk about her study of how young children ages 0-5 who experience homelessness face greater risks and worse outcomes than other poor children.

Please RSVP to vkarkov@sas.upenn.edu if you are planning to attend!
